Symdeko

Symdeko (tezacaftor / ivacaftor) is a combination CFTR modulator therapy indicated for the treatment of cystic fibrosis in patients aged six years and older who are homozygous for the F508del mutation or who have at least one CFTR mutation responsive to tezacaftor / ivacaftor. Tezacaftor improves CFTR processing and trafficking to the cell surface, while ivacaftor potentiates chloride channel function once at the surface. Together they support partial restoration of CFTR-mediated chloride transport. Symdeko is administered as a fixed-dose combination tablet with a separate ivacaftor tablet, taken with fat-containing food under specialist supervision.
