Indications & Clinical Uses
- Yusimry 40 mg/0.8 mL (adalimumab-aqvh) is a tumour necrosis factor (TNF) blocker and a biosimilar to Humira (adalimumab), given by subcutaneous injection from a prefilled pen or glass syringe, usually every other week.
- In the US it is approved for rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile idiopathic arthritis (weight-based dosing; 40 mg every other week for children of 30 kg or more), psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, plaque psoriasis, hidradenitis suppurativa and non-infectious uveitis, with starting doses such as 160 mg then 80 mg in Crohn's disease.
- The 0.8 mL volume differs from high-concentration 40 mg/0.4 mL adalimumab products such as Yuflyma, so check the volume.
- The sheet lists Coherus BioSciences, but in June 2024 Coherus sold Yusimry to Hong Kong King-Friend, and Meitheal Pharmaceuticals now commercialises it in the US.
Side Effects
- Boxed warning: adalimumab products increase the risk of serious infections that may lead to hospitalisation or death, including tuberculosis, invasive fungal infections and opportunistic infections, and lymphoma including hepatosplenic T-cell lymphoma has been reported in children and adolescents treated with TNF blockers.
- Very common effects (more than 1 in 10 people) include upper respiratory infection (17% in rheumatoid arthritis studies), sinusitis (11%), headache (12%) and rash (12%); injection site reactions (8%) and nausea (9%) are also common.
- Report fever, cough that does not go away, weight loss, night sweats, unusual bruising, new numbness or weakness, worsening breathlessness or swelling, and signs of an allergic reaction.
- Rotate injection sites.
Precautions & Warnings
- You will be checked for tuberculosis and hepatitis B before and during treatment because these infections can reactivate.
- The label lists no contraindications, but warns of serious infections, cancers, demyelinating disease, heart failure (new or worsening), blood disorders, lupus-like reactions and hypersensitivity.
- Adalimumab crosses the placenta, so discuss pregnancy plans with your provider and ask about live vaccines for exposed infants.
- Live vaccines must be avoided.
- Store in the refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C in the original carton to protect from light, and do not freeze or use if frozen; it may be kept at up to 25°C for a maximum of 14 days.
- Let it stand for 15 to 30 minutes at room temperature before injecting.
Avoid Interactions
- Increased effect or toxicity: abatacept and anakinra should not be combined with Yusimry because of increased serious infection risk; live vaccines must be avoided.
- Methotrexate can reduce adalimumab clearance, but no dose adjustment is needed.
- The label also advises caution with CYP450 substrate medicines that have a narrow safety margin, and your provider may monitor them.
- Reduced efficacy: no specific medicines that lower Yusimry's effect were identified in the label sections reviewed.
- Tell your healthcare provider about all prescription and non-prescription medicines, vaccines and supplements you take.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yusimry (adalimumab-aqvh) is a TNF-blocker biosimilar to Humira that treats rheumatoid, psoriatic and juvenile arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, plaque psoriasis, hidradenitis suppurativa and non-infectious uveitis. Age limits and doses depend on the condition, so your provider sets your plan.
Yusimry (adalimumab-aqvh) 40 mg/0.8 mL is injected under the skin from a prefilled pen or syringe, usually every other week for adult arthritis. Crohn's disease starts with 160 mg, then 80 mg two weeks later, then 40 mg every other week. Let it warm for 15 to 30 minutes first.
Common Yusimry side effects are upper respiratory infections, sinusitis, headache, rash and injection site reactions. It has a boxed warning for serious infections, including tuberculosis and fungal infections, and for lymphoma in children and adolescents. Contact your provider promptly for fever, persistent cough or weight loss.
Avoid live vaccines and do not combine Yusimry (adalimumab-aqvh) with abatacept or anakinra, which raise the risk of serious infection. Do not inject during an active infection. You need tuberculosis and hepatitis B screening first. Tell your provider if you take medicines with a narrow safety margin.
Store Yusimry (adalimumab-aqvh) in the refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C in its original carton to protect it from light. Do not freeze it or use it if frozen. If needed, it can be kept at up to 25°C for a maximum of 14 days.
Yes. Yusimry (adalimumab-aqvh) is a biosimilar to Humira, meaning it is highly similar to it with no clinically meaningful differences. It comes as 40 mg/0.8 mL, so its injection volume differs from 40 mg/0.4 mL products. Do not swap adalimumab brands without your provider's advice.
